| ARRIVAL
|
Zimbos
galore will be there to meet you and take you to your
accommodation - where you will find information sheets on the
whole programme, how to get around, what to do, and tours for
you to take (if you haven't already booked - and provided we
can get you onto them!) Please try to pre-book tours on
registration to be sure
of getting a place - particularly the wine-lovers tours
to the Barossa and
the Adelaide Hills tours. There will also be a list of everyone
who is attending, so that you can look out for each other
during the events. |
|
| Night 1 |
Coaches
will pick you up (look out for collection times in your
foyer or reception area) to
go to the
Riverbank by 7'00 p.m. As we look out across the landscaped
banks of the Torrens River and the famous Adelaide Oval to
the landmark of St Peter's Cathedral, you'll enjoy
sundowners, snacks, lots of hugs and recognition!
There will
be a speech of welcome and info about tomorrow - the
activities you will be taking part in and other reminders,
before those who want to do so, are transported back to
their hotels. The rest can make their own way home!! |
|
| Day 2 |
A
continuous shuttle service will operate to the southern
parklands where you will find a hive of activity round
tennis courts, hockey pitches, croquet lawns, cricket,
volleyball or rugby.
Join your old school teams -or just
come along to cheer or boo to your heart's content.
There
will be food and beverage tents scattered through the
parklands, with a range of options for you to buy.
Expect a whole heap of forfeits as well as real 'awards'!
Make up groups and make sure you collect your 'scatter dinner' tickets for
an economical and delicious meal this evening - you'll be
able to choose from
Indian, Thai or French cuisine, to fish and steak
restaurants.
|
|
| Day 3 |
You
have the whole day off to meet up or go off on tours with
friends! Those going on tours to our wine areas, hills,
and coasts will be picked up at their accommodation
or other designated places. |
|
| Day 4 |
Friday
- Braai day … well not quite - Aussie barbie day to be
precise! We're off to the Murray River to enjoy a day of
bush dancing, riverboats, and other Aussie barbie
traditions. Picnic baskets full of local produce will be on
sale - and we might just sneak in a little boeries to make
you feel at home. As the sun sets, we'll wend our way home
through the Hills - singing a few aizikazumbas perhaps ? |
|
| Day 5 |
Free
morning and afternoon - and for those who have booked, it's
off to the World Cup Rugby game at Adelaide Oval.
Just make
sure you are home in time to get your coach for the major
party that evening in the old Ram Shed. This is going to be
a real Zim night - the Mashonas against the Midlands, while
the Matabeles take on the Manicas in a huge sing up. We'll
have entertainment - names from the past and names from the
present … something to suit absolutely everyone.
|
|
| Day 6 |
Shuttle
coaches will be running to the airport throughout the next
couple of days and local Zimbo's will be wishing you all
farewell. For those who decide to stay for another night,
there's a fantastic jazz festival down at the Bay - just
catch a tram and enjoy one of Australia's truly great
events.
And
if you all reckon the whole thing has been worthwhile -
perhaps we'll see you again in two years time - somewhere
else! |
